Review: Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Turbo Power Supreme Plumping Lip Gloss

I purchased the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Turbo Power Supreme Plumping Lip Gloss a few weeks ago. The Too Faced Lip Injection is a serum that makes your lips plumper. It supports blood flow to the lips, which promotes lip fullness. It also contains moisturizing ingredients such as avocado and jojoba oils. It is suggested that you apply a generous amount to your lips and wait about a minute or more before you apply anything else to your lips, like lipstick or lipgloss. You can also apply the product during the day whenever you want a more plump appearance.

Now, on to my thoughts. Overall, I really like this product. I always wanted more fuller, plump lips and this is able to give me that for about 5 hours. For anyone who's looking for a lip plumper, I think this is a great option. The lip gloss gives a nice, clear sheen to the lips which is nice because some days, I don't apply anything else on my lips. The only downfall to this product is that it stings and has a burning sensation for a few minutes after it's applied. This burning sensation is evidence that the product is working, essentially bringing blood flow to your lips, creating plumper lips. Personally, the burning sensation isn't that bad and is very bearable. However, some people may find it to be too much for them.

As far as how much it plumped my lips, down below are pictures of a before and after. I love how plump it makes my lips look and I especially love how my lips look after applying lip liner and lipstick. I no longer need to overline my lips which, obviously, I love.

There is also the original Lip Injection which also has a plumping effect but would be for those who only want slight results. You can buy the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme here for $28.

5 Ways to Fix Damaged Hair

Has your hair been feeling damaged or dry? Does your hair look nice but towards the ends, it bulges out and appears dry and frizzy? If so, you may be a normal person and have managed to damage your hair, haha. Damaged hair takes time to repair, however, it's not difficult. Thankfully, it's not the end of the world, so here you go:

1. Cut those Ends:

The first place that your hair shows signs of damage is on your ends. Cutting your split ends are a great way to fix the appearance of your hair. There's a reason why hairstylists always tell you to get a trim every 3-4 months and that is to avoid getting split ends. Split ends eventually travel up the root of your hair and cause your hair to become frizzy and have a barbed-wire look, which is not cute. Cut your split ends regularly to maintain healthy and frizzless hair.

2. Read those Ingredients:

Girls love putting products in their hair. Especially if you have curly hair, you know that applying products is a necessity. Whatever your poison is, make sure it that contains healthy ingredients for your hair. We tend to overlook what is in the stuff that we buy but when it comes down to hair products, it's important if you want to maintain healthy hair. Avoid any hair products that contain sulfates, parabens, alcohol, synthetic colors and mineral oils. These ingredients will strip your hair of all of it's natural oils and are essentially killing your hair slowly. So make sure you pick up all natural, sulfate and paraben free products. A lot of the good lines are in the ethnic section of your drugstore.

3. Stop Applying Heat:

I know, I know. I used to hate hearing this as a child. I used to hate my curls and would blow dry and straighten my hair regularly. Any form of heat is not good for our hair and creates damaged and dry hair. If you need to use your blow dryer, put it on the cold setting. It may take slightly longer but it won't damage your hair. Even when rinsing your hair, applying cold water is ideal for those who want to minimize the frizz in their hair. Heat is not your friend, even though you may love to curl or straighten your hair.

4. Deep Condition:

Deep conditioning is a step that many girls overlook. Deep conditioning is great for those who need that extra boost in moisture. Applying a deep conditioner is a great way to fix your damaged or color treated hair. I usually deep condition 2-3x a month, sometimes 4x if I feel like my curls have been drier than usual. For those who are into DIY projects or all natural remedies, creating your own deep conditioner or mask for your hair is a great alternative to buying one and it's easy.

5. Moisturize

Moisturize that hair, girl! Moisture is your hair's best friend. Regardless of the hair type that you may have, dry hair is a no-go. Some hair may need more moisture than others but all hair needs moisture. Apply a leave-in conditioner in your hair to give it that extra boost. Deep conditioners give a great amount of moisture to the hair. Apply moisturizing masks as well. One of my favorite ingredients to apply in my hair is coconut oil. Coconut oil has many different benefits for your hair, it's a super product.

MAC Lipstick Finishes: A Quick Guide

Have you ever stepped into a MAC store and wanted to buy a lipstick but felt intimidated? MAC has a huge selection and so many different finishes. What does it all even mean? MAC has 11 standard lipstick finishes. I didn't even know that for awhile, that's crazy. When I first started buying MAC lipsticks, I was confused. I didn't know the difference between a creme sheen or amplified finish. Now, I find myself picking my MAC lipsticks based on their formulas first and then their colors.

In this guide, I'll be talking about some of  the different finishes that MAC offers, just so that you can feel a little less overwhelmed when looking for a lipstick and wondering if you would like that formula. I will be listing the formulas from the highest amount of pigmentation to the least.

1. Retro Matte

Mac's Retro Matte lipsticks give the most opaque pigmentation but the least hydration. This is perfect for those who want an intense pigmented lipstick but don't mind the somewhat drying formula. It is incredibly long wearing and lasts the entire day through eating, drinking, kissing and what not. Because of it's dry formula and intense pigmentation, it can be hard to apply and can drag across the lips. But it looks beautiful once you can apply it though!

2. Matte

Most of you lovelies will be familiar with this finish. The Matte finish is slightly more hydrating than the Retro Matte. It provides great pigmentation and usually wears 6-8 hours after the application. It can still be drying and does not have shimmer or sheen in it. There is a heavy color payoff with Matte lipsticks and they are less difficult to apply.

3. Satin

The easiest way to describe this lipstick finish is a matte lipstick with a little bit of sheen. Satin lipstick offers a lot of color but is more moisturizing than a Matte lipstick. It has a hint of sheen but is not shimmery. These last about 4-6 hours on the lips and are more comfortable to apply. This finish is probably my favorite out of all of them.

4. Amplified

Amplified, what? Amplified finishes are AMPLIFIED. They basically offer similar pigmentation to the Matte lipsticks but have a slight sheen, are much more moisturizing, and comfortable to apply, making them a favorite in MAC for many people. The formula is slightly creamier than the Satin lipsticks and do not have a drying effect. However, they don't usually last longer than 3-4 hours on the lips, so reapplication is needed. It is best accompanied with a lip liner.

5. Amplfied Creme

The Amplified Creme is very similar to the Amplified finish but has a creamier formula. It is also highly pigmented and comfortable to apply but doesn't last quite as long as the original Amplified finish. It is best accompanied with a lip liner.

6. Cremesheen

The Cremesheen's lipsticks have a good amount of pigmentation but does not have as much as the previous finishes mentioned. It has a creamy formula and has a glossy finish with a good amount of sheen. It is comfortable to wear but does not last long on the lips. This is perfect for those who do not need a lot of pigmentation but appreciate the sheen that this lipstick finish provides.

7. Lustre

The Lustre's lipstick finish has a sheer pigmentation, so this is definitely not for those who like a lot of color on their lips. They have a creamy texture and do not last long on the lips. These lipsticks have a sheer and glossy finish.

8. Frost

The Frost finish is very similar to the Lustre finish but has a lot of shimmer, creating the "frost" appearance. It has sheer pigmentation and is very creamy. It is comfortable to wear and is moisturizing on the lips. However, they do not provide long wear.

9. Glaze

Finally, the last lipstick finish that I'll discuss is Glaze. The Glaze formula offer the least amount of pigmentation but are the most moisturizing out of all the finishes I have mentioned. They don't offer much color and give more of a glossy finish. To others, these can appear as lipglosses. They are easy to apply and last for a short amount of time, requiring a lot of reapplication.

Brightening DIY Face Mask with Turmeric

Turmeric beauty masks have been used in Asia for a long time. Turmeric is a spice that possesses antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which is one of the main reasons why it is so commonly used for various skin problems. Turmeric is used for skin brightening, redness, acne, dark circles, pigmentation and even eczema. It also can help dry skin and has moisturizing properties. Turmeric is one of my favorite secrets when creating face masks at home. My main skin concerns include dull skin and dark circles. But using Turmeric always leaves my face feeling moisturized, supple and most importantly, it brightens my skin.

One of my favorite Turmeric Face Mask Recipes:

1 Teaspoon of Turmeric Powder
1 Teaspoon of Raw Organic Honey
1 Teaspoon of Yogurt (for normal to oily skin)
1 Teaspoon of Coconut Oil or Olive oil (for normal to dry skin)

Directions:

1. Mix the ingredients together until everything is nicely mixed and it forms a paste consistency. Because Turmeric can be staining, be sure that the consistency will stick on your face so that it doesn't fall off.

2. Apply to a clean, dry face free of makeup. If you have sensitive skin, I would suggest applying it to a small part of your face to test it out first.

3. Leave on for 10 minutes and then thoroughly wash it off.

4. Pat your face dry and apply moisturizer.

*Tip* The Turmeric might leave a slight yellow stain on your face. However, this can easily be removed by applying a makeup remover wipe to your face after the mask. Comes off like a charm.

What are your favorite face masks? Have you tried Turmeric in any of them? Try it out and let me know what you think!

"Curly Girl" Styling Products That you Need in Your Life

Having curly hair is a blessing. However, sometimes it doesn't feel that way. Sometimes, it can be overwhelming, especially when trying to find the perfect products for your hair. After trying out so many hair products, I almost have it down to a science. I can finally say that I know what styling products I like and which ones work best for my hair. Here's a list of some of my favorite hair products to style my hair with.

1. Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie - I love this stuff. This defines your curls, reduces frizz and smooths your hair. This is perfect for those with thicker hair. It smells amazing and it leaves my curls bouncy and frizzless. It also has silk protein and coconut oil to promote healthy hair.

2. Cantu Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream - This is one of my favorite leave in conditioners. This has shea butter in it to keep your hair moisturized which is ideal for curly hair since it can get dry and brittle. It feels great in your hair and I use it when my hair is feeling dry.

3. DevaCurl Ultra Defining Gel - This is one of the only gels that I own because most gels aren't good for curly hair. However, this product is not harmful or damaging to your hair. It has a lot of hold and it is very moisturizing. It defines your curls, leaving your hair looking bomb

4. Shea Moisture Strengthen Grow & Restore Leave-in Conditioner - This product is amazing. It contains Shea Butter, Keratin and Jamaican Black Castor Oil. This restorative leave-in conditioner helps soften and detangle your curls. This also reduces frizz in your hair. And it just feels, good.

5. Kinky-Curly Knot Today Leave in Conditioner - This is a leave in conditioner that helps you with detangling your hair, throughout the day, hence the "Knot Today." It smells really good and it makes your curls feel great. It doesn't weigh down your curls which is a quality that I'm always on the hunt for.  It also leaves your hair feeling conditioned and soft.

6. Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk - Okay, I know. Another Shea Moisture product. But this one is one of my favorite of all these products. This was one of my first hair products that I have tried and I still use it daily. It smells so good and leaves your curls defined and healthy.

7. DevaCurl Styling Cream - This cream is amazing for enhancing and defining your curls. It's a great product and is really lightweight on the hair. It has hold and is resistant to humidity and heat.

Most of the products that I use are natural and paraben and sulfate free. This is really important for curly hair because it prevents frizz and helps curly hair stay moisturized. When looking for new products, always search in the Natural or "ethnic" section of the drugstore because this is where all of the healthy hair products are.

Favorite Eyeshadow Palette of the Moment: Carli Bybel Palette

Carli Bybel Palette

My favorite eyeshadow palette of the moment would have to be the Carli Bybel 14 Color Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette by BH Cosmetics. I purchased this palette when it came out in September of 2015. Lately, I've been picking it up a lot when doing my makeup. Since Spring is coming, I've been using some of the lighter and warmer tones in this palette, a lot.

The shades in this palette are beautiful and very pigmented. There are some beautiful browns and mauves, along with lovely gold and warm shades as well. The four highlighters that are in the palette are to die for.. literally. Sometimes, I like mixing the different shade to create the perfect highlight for the day.

If you'd like to buy it, you can purchase it at the BH Cosmetics' website here.

Some Swatches:

These pictures are of the two rows of eyeshadows in the palette. As you can see, they are very pretty and highly pigmented. All of these swatches were made with just one swipe on my arm.  A few things to note about this palette is that it has a great assortment of both matte and shimmer shades and also a perfect neutral shade which is the first one shown on the left. There are two brown shades which I am obsessed with and also, there are three mauvy shades that are perfect for nighttime looks. I love applying the two gold shades all over my lids, which is perfect for the Spring and Summer months. Overall, you can create so many different looks with these eyeshadows, which is something that I always look for in an eyeshadow palette.

This picture is of the four highlighters in the palette. This is the main reason why I bought this palette. I am obsessed with buying different highlighters and to have them conveniently placed in an eyeshadow palette is just genius. These four highlighters are perfect for all skin tones. The middle shades are my favorites for my skin tone. I usually use the pink highlight for the inner corner of my eyes, which is stunning. The darkest, copper-toned highlighter is perfect for those with a medium to deep skin tone.

Do any of you have the Carli Bybel Palette? If so, what do you guys think?

My Top 10 Favorite Beauty Hacks

'

As a girl who loves makeup, I am always on the lookout for more beauty hacks. Anything that will make my life easier or my makeup routine better, will intrigue me. Who doesn't love learning new tips and tricks, right? Over the years, I've learned some life-changing beauty hacks that have really changed the way that I do my makeup.

DIY Primer

This hack is perfect for those who love DIY projects or love good, cheap alternatives to makeup products. A great way to create your own DIY Primer is by combining glycerin and a moisturizer of your choice. It's affordable and works so well as a primer. If you want to learn more, check out my blog post all about it here.

Want a Matte Lipstick?

Matte Lipsticks are all the craze right now. Everyone loves the appearance of a matte lip, right? Well, that doesn't mean that you have to throw out all of your other lipsticks! You can turn any lipstick into a matte lipstick with just one product- translucent powder. After applying your lipstick, grab some of your favorite translucent powder and dab it onto your lips two or three times. This creates the perfect matte version of your lipstick.

Looking for some new Blushes?

I never used to love blushes as much as I do now. So for a while, I didn't have a lot of blushes to choose from. This beauty hack has saved me from spending money on blushes by using what I already own. If you want new blushes, grab a lipstick in a shade that you would want as a blush. All you have to do for this beauty hack is rub a little of the lipstick into one or two of your fingers and apply it to your cheeks in a dabbing motion. Using a dabbing motion will ensure that it appears blended and not harsh on the cheeks. You can apply as much as you would like but I would suggest starting off slowly.

Need Help Painting Your Nails?

I am not good at painting my own nails. No matter how much practice I get, my nails always seem sloppy and the edges of my nails don't look clean. If you're like me, this beauty hack will be perfect for you. All you need is a small, thin makeup brush and nail polish remover. After you're done with painting your nails, wait for them to dry completely. Take your makeup brush and dip it into your nail polish remover. You can then start cleaning up any of the mistakes you might have made with the makeup brush without having to remove all of the nail polish on that nail.

Coconut Oil Works Miracles

Coconut oil is one of the best investments a girl can make. Coconut oil is the ultimate beauty hack because it has many different uses. It is great for your skin, nails, lips and most importantly, your hair. Coconut oil is a great skin and lip moisturizer and when applied to your hair, it gives your hair a lot of moisture, shine and smells amazing. Coconut oil is also great as a makeup remover. You can apply the coconut oil to your face and it breaks down your makeup while leaving your skin feeling moisturized.

Concealer in a Triangle

Another beauty hack that makes a difference in your makeup routine is how you are applying your concealer. Applying your concealer just underneath your eyes is a common makeup mistake. Drawing an upside-down triangle underneath your eyes with your concealer will help cover up your dark circles while lifting your face and making you appear more awake. Also, your concealer will look more blended and less noticeable to others. No makeup makeup look, right?

Multi Masking

I am such a fan of masks. I apply a mask to my face at least once a week, sometimes twice. But sometimes my skin has multiple issues at once. The center of my face might be oily and I might be breaking out on my cheeks. However, not all masks are the same. So, one beauty hack that I personally love is applying multiple masks on my face at once. If a certain area is feeling dry, I'll apply a moisturizing mask there and if another area is breaking out, I'll apply another mask there. Multi-masking helps you address all of your skincare problems at the same time.

Silicone Mitt

I don't like the idea of buying brush cleaners ever since I learned about this trick. Buying a silicone mitt is easy and affordable and it is the most perfect brush cleaner, ever. Many different makeup companies have released their own versions of silicon brush cleaners but buying a silicon mitt online works the same and can save you a few dollars.  Who doesn't like saving money, right?

Foundation on Your Shirt?

We have all been there. We were just doing our makeup and we could swear that we were being careful but somehow we managed to get some foundation on our shirt. It is one of the most aggravating parts of getting ready. One beauty hack that really works well for that problem is.. Shaving Cream! Yes, shaving cream. Before tossing your shirt in the wash, apply a dollop of shaving cream on the stain and rub it in. This helps the makeup stain really go away.

Vaseline and Perfume?

Have you ever applied perfume and two hours later, there is not a hint of that scent on you anymore? No one wants to carry their perfume around all day so if your perfume doesn't last as long as it should, this beauty hack is for you. Apply vaseline to your pulse points first and then spray the perfume on those areas. This will help prolong the wear of your perfume. The vaseline holds as a base on your skin and the perfume scent sticks to the vaseline. Science.

New Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators

Look at those beauties, aren't they gorgeous? I am so excited about this makeup product that I am about to tell you all about. If you have heard the brand, Laura Geller, it's probably because of their cult-favorite highlight of 2015, "Gilded Honey." Gilded Honey was a gorgeous bright, caramel, honey shade. It was gold and gave the most beautiful shine to your cheeks. She has now added two new shades to her Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators, "Charming Pink" and "Peach Glow." The formula of these highlights are very high-quality and apply beautifully. They are pigmented but can be built up to your liking. They don't accentuate any pores and they look stunning on the cheeks.

Charming Pink

The shade, Charming Pink, is definitely more than charming. It is beautiful. It can best be described as a soft, pink pearl shade. This shade would look beautiful for those with fair to medium skin tones.

Peach Glow

Peach Glow is another gorgeous highlighter. This shade can best be described as a peachy champagne shimmer. As far as highlights go, this is a very unique color. Typically, highlights fall into either a gold or a simple champagne color. This peach shade is going to stand out in your highlight collection, but for good reason. It is beautiful, can be used on a variety of skin tones and would look great with a tan or a bronzed, glowing face.

The Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators retail for $26 and can be bought here!

Ombre vs. Balayage

For those who do not know, Ombre and Balayage are terms for two popular hair coloring techniques. They both receive similar results through coloring but they both have distinct differences that will help you determine whether you'd like ombre or balayage for your hair. They are often confused but there are some important differences to note. It is possible to do this yourself but unless you are a professional, I personally wouldn't recommend doing your own hair. To achieve the look you want, I would go to a salon.

Ombre

Ombre is the gradual lightening of your hair. Ombre hair typically has darker roots and gradually lightens towards the ends of your hair. It has become quite popular in recent years. It can be a subtle ombre or more drastic, depending on your preference. The looks that you can achieve depend on many different  factors such as how light you would like to go to or the technique. Ombre is for those who want a drastic change but don't like high maintenance styles. It is perfect for those who don't want to go to a salon frequently since touch-ups aren't needed often. Ombre looks beautiful on different hair types and textures and even the curly girl can get ombre hair and it will still look great.

Balayage

The word Balayage comes from the French word, "to sweep." It describes the freehand technique that is done by the stylist as she paints on the color with the hands instead of using foil. The brush strokes should be vertically with the tip of the brush. The stylist will freehand where the light strands should be to create a more natural look of sun kissed highlights throughout the hair. There are typically dark pieces left in the bottom of the hair to create dimension to the hair and also to creat a more natural look. Balayage is also low maintenance and gives off a subtle amount of color and dimension to the hair. You won't have a demarcation line like you would have with an Ombre style. Balayage can be used with all hair types but looks great with those with straighter hair. Another benefit of Balayage is that you usually will not need bleach so for those who would rather not bleach their hair should look for Balayage.
